Welcome To Lane Brothers Home Page Lane Brothers Scales originated as the Thomas E. Lane Company in 1921 . It was founded by Thomas E. Lane, Sr. as a sales and service company selling scales and material handling equipment (hand carts, dollies, casters, etc.) primarily to customers related to the automobile industry in and around Detroit, Michigan . In the late 1950's, sons, James Lane and Thomas E. Lane, Jr., took over what became, Lane Brothers, Scale Co. and began to accumulate numbers of counting scales that could be rented to take inventories. The fleet of rental scales grew throughout the sixties, seventies and eighties becoming one of the largest in the Midwest. Lane Brothers pioneered and set the standard for efficient delivery of rental scales, with it's fleet of specially designed semi trailers, fewer personnel could load and unload large numbers of platform scales, at speeds never before possible. Lane Brothers Scales was one of the first to change over it's rental scale fleet to electronic counting scales in 1977. Today there are approximately six-hundred electronic scales for rent including platform, bench, vehicle, and crane scales. Since the mid-eighties Lane Brothers has reemphasized it's roots by establishing a heavier presents in the sales and service end of the scale business. In addition to scales, the company has expanded into the related areas of process control, inventory control, and data collection. There is now a complete Systems Integration Department with in-house programming capabilities. We have come a long way and have learned much since we began as the Thomas E. Lane Company in 1921 to become Lane Brothers Scales & Systems today. We are committed now, just as Tom Lane Sr. was then, to the highest standard of service that we can provide to our valued customers and we look forward to many more years of service to the industry we love.
